ShiftPilot AI — frequently asked questions
Short, direct answers to the questions dealers ask most. Everything below reflects what the product does today, including where a capability depends on an outside provider.
What is ShiftPilot AI?
ShiftPilot AI is an AI-powered dealership operating system — a controlled operating layer that connects dealership CRM, inventory, deal desk and finance-readiness, document and e-sign, service, and communications workflows in one place, with AI assistance that stays under human review.
Who is ShiftPilot AI for?
Automotive dealerships and multi-rooftop dealer groups. Inside the store it is used by dealer principals, general managers, sales and BDC teams, finance managers, service advisors and service managers, and group leadership.
Is ShiftPilot AI a CRM or a DMS?
It includes CRM and lead management, but it is broader than a CRM: it is an operating layer across sales, inventory, deal desk and finance readiness, documents and e-sign, service, and communications. It is not a dealer management system of record, and it does not claim to replace one.
How is the AI controlled?
AI drafts, summarizes, prioritizes, and surfaces opportunities using the dealership's own records. Customer-facing or otherwise sensitive actions are proposed rather than executed, and a person with the right role must approve them. Approvals are recorded in an audit log.
What do integrations require?
Integration-dependent capabilities — message delivery, credit and lender workflows, DMV submission, DMS synchronization, market valuation data, payment processing, ad publishing, and external e-sign — require the dealership's own provider credentials, contracts, configuration, and approvals. Until those exist, the related features stay inactive rather than simulated.
Does ShiftPilot AI support multiple rooftops?
Yes. Each rooftop's data is isolated at the database level with its own users and roles, while group leadership can see consistent metrics across stores and apply the same approval rules everywhere.
How does a rollout or pilot work?
Rollouts start as a controlled pilot: a defined scope, a limited group of users, agreed success measures, and configuration of any provider integrations before wider use. Scope expands once the store is comfortable with the workflows.
How is dealership data kept separate and secure?
Data is isolated per dealership using database row-level security, access is role-based, sensitive actions are written to an append-only audit log, provider secrets stay server-side, and traffic uses TLS. ShiftPilot AI does not hold SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, or HIPAA certification.
How do I request a demo?
Use the demo section on the ShiftPilot AI homepage to request a walkthrough. A demo covers the current product, including which capabilities depend on provider integrations at your store.
